What is a Doula?

The word doula comes from a Greek word which means "woman servant".

The role of the doula is to "Mother the Mother".

This is done by providing continuous emotional, physical,  and informational support.

Doulas help the mom feel safe, cared for, and supported from pregnancy to postpartum.

A doula also works in tandem with the birthing partner (husband, mom, sister, friend)

- not replacing, but enhancing their role.

Isaiah 40:31

“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint."

I believe every woman who wants the support of a doula should have one. Therefore I offer a sliding scale for my services. This makes my services very affordable -

Please inquire below even if you think you cannot afford a doula. Money should not hinder anyone from having a doula at their birth if they want one. Let’s chat and see how we can partner to help you have the best birth possible.

As a Doula, I Do Not...

  • Perform any Clinical Tasks:

I am not a trained medical professional. I am educated on the physical process of childbirth and medical procedures. However, I will refer to your chosen medical provider for medical recommendations.

  • Make Decisions for You or Judge Your Decisions:

Every woman should feel in control of their birth experience. Sometimes things don't go as planned. I support you throughout the process of labor and delivery and how your birth unfolds.

  • Take the Place of Your Birth Partner or Other Supports

The birth of your baby is a special day for partners as well. My presence and support is to benefit mother and partner. Afterall, partners know you best and will be the biggest supports in parenthood.

  • Touch or Move You Without Your Consent

In childbirth, a woman is both at her most powerful and most vulnerable. While I am comfortable providing massages or other physical relief during labor, I recognize that this may be a boundary for some. I respect your personal and physical boundaries in all aspects of birth.
